Vinted Members Express Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
